External links pruning?

I've checked the external links section for dead links. I do question how many are relevant to a reader of this article, particular in light of Wikipedia's guidance on the subject External links. Prune a bit? --Peculiar Investor 18:56, 13 February 2014 (MST)

Currency conversion

The Currency conversion section says that there are credit cards available to Canadian consumers that do not charge the 2.5% foreign exchange fees. Should we specifically mention the Amazon.ca VISA which is quite popular on the forum? Something more general on 'How to transfer money overseas' (SWIFT versus Transferwise versus ...) could also be added to the 'currency conversion' page. I'm working on this offline for now. --Quebec 08:42, 29 November 2015 (MST)

The focus of this page is for a general discussion of credit cards. Perhaps it would be better to mention Amazon.ca in Currency conversion and insert a {{See also}} reference to Currency conversion? Apparently, only Chase and Amazon.ca offer no (0%) foreign exchange fees. Here's one source: Travel Tip: Avoid Foreign Transaction Fees On Your Canadian Credit Card (I don't know if this is a credible source appropriate for finiki.) --LadyGeek 10:39, 29 November 2015 (MST)

Image insertion, requesting feedback

I've added a Pixabay image in the upper left corner, as a test. How does this look to you? Is this the best place? What about the insertion method (File:Credit-cards.jpg|left|thumb|150px)? --Quebec 11:43, 28 March 2020‎ (MST)

I think it looks odd. When in doubt I check Wikipedia:Manual of Style. It has a section on Images, and also links Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Images. The most pertinent recommendation I found was "Images must be significant and relevant in the topic's context, not primarily decorative." Reading further to the section Images for the lead they state "It is common for an article's lead or infobox to carry a representative image—such as of a person or place, a book or album cover—to give readers visual confirmation that they've arrived at the right page." Using those two as guidance my take is it would seem to suggest the this type of image insertion is not recommended for this type of article.--Peculiar Investor 12:02, 28 March 2020 (MDT)
Well, yes, the image is entirely decorative. I will remove it. But if we don't allow decorative images, it will be quite difficult to illustrate some topics. Maybe that's all right; I will go back to the "front page" issue. --Quebec 12:15, 28 March 2020 (MDT)

Sidebar overload

This article supposedly belongs to the Personal finance sidebar, but the sidebar is missing. But there are many sidebars and the bottom equivalent in this article. Perhaps we can revisit this when we deal with the categories (Personal finance versus financial management).--Quebec 17:29, 16 January 2021 (MST)
