Talk:Estate planning

From finiki, the Canadian financial wiki

Should there be a section on Joint Ownership of Accounts? From various forum discussions this seems to be a common estate planning technique, but care must be taken as things are more complex than they seem.--Peculiar Investor 08:33, 15 September 2012 (MDT)

Would this be a good resource on the matter of Joint Accounts, Perils of joint ownership | Advisor.ca--Peculiar Investor 10:48, 15 September 2012 (MDT)

RBC dead link, replace or delete?

IIRC, FWF member brucecohen provided the link to the RBC checklist. Unfortunately it is now a dead link. A possible replacement is RBC Estate & Trust Services which offers a 'Download Your Free Executor's Kit and Estate Settlement Guide' but requires registration. I'm not sure linking one Big-5 bank is neutral, particularly now that registration is required. Google indicates the old checklist is available elsewhere, such as Executor's Checklist (RBC Wealth Management®) (2010 version) from Morrow Marsh & Co LLP – Vancouver's Experienced Accounting Team.

Replace the link or just delete it? --Peculiar Investor 12:02, 13 January 2016 (MST)

Google found a new URL for the link. Fixed --Peculiar Investor 15:40, 18 December 2016 (MST)

Help for surviving spouses

Are there any FWF discussion topics that address surviving family members or spouses? The Bogleheads wiki Further reading section does exactly that. It is a very useful reference.

I recommend collecting similar FWF topics (if they exist) to help members who don't know what to do when a family member passes away.

The Further reading section links back to a number of useful FWF topics that could be useful for content to be added to the article. brucecohen and twa2w's posts often offer excellent insights. --Peculiar Investor 14:06, 4 January 2023 (EST)
If US content is acceptable, then I recommended adding Process for surviving spouse. in Death of a spouse.
