Talk:Financial advisor

From finiki, the Canadian financial wiki
(Redirected from Talk:Financial adviser)

There are six links at the bottom of the page and only the first and last ones work. Link #5 has moved and links 2,3 and 4 to the cfp site on my browser settings produce a dangerous website warning (ha!). There are possible replacement links available for some of the cfp links (eg, for the 10 questions link [1] which I changed). --Gus 18:41, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

I've reported the google malicious site warning to the webmaster. I poked around a bit at advisor.ca and found where they had moved the link. THe broken link is now fixed.--yielder 20:41, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Credentials and designations out dated?

Is the the section Credentials and designations information current? When updating with information from Financial Planning Standards Council, I also went to Registered Financial Planners Institute and I'm suspecting article information is dated and needs a subject expert to update. --Peculiar Investor 09:38, 29 November 2012 (MST)

That was fixed a while ago.--Quebec 06:05, 27 March 2021 (MDT)

Types of financial advice

This section is very strange. It's mostly about insurance. Nothing about investments or retirement planning. This is not a good summary on the "Types of financial advice" at all. Should we just delete this section? --Quebec 16:12, 22 January 2014 (MST)

General wiki advice is keep deleting to a minimum, try to improve, see Wikipedia's Editing policy. If you View history for an article, you can get an idea of how and when the article developed over time. Many article were started in February 2009 when finiki was started and they were "seeds" to help start finiki growing. Judging by the history, that may be the case here. --Peculiar Investor 18:57, 22 January 2014 (MST)

Adviser vs Advisor

With the "Adviser vs Advisor?" section now expanded, and the difference clarified, I think it is clear that the current page is about advisors, with an o, not the much more restrictive adviser, with an e. So I suggest we rename the page with an o, and leave a redirect.--Quebec 11:32, 22 February 2020 (MST)

Pro or con renaming the article, last chance to speak...  :-) --Quebec 17:14, 25 February 2020 (MST)
Pro, as Advocis, the Financial Advisors Association of Canada, agrees with you. --LadyGeek 18:41, 27 February 2020 (MST)
