Talk:Conventional retirement planning

From finiki, the Canadian financial wiki

For context, I'm also preparing an overview article on less conventional retirement planning, offline for now. This will cover lifecyle finance including consumption smoothing, liability matching with RRBs and annuities, delaying CPP/QPP and OAS until age 70, variable percentage withdrawal (introduction only), and longinvest's After-Tax Spending Plan. Together, these two articles are meant to show ways to "connect the dots" between the different "Element of a plan" in the IPS article.--Quebec 17:35, 1 April 2018 (CDT)

Retirement spending

Here is a related article series in the Bogleheads wiki: Retirement spending. Use as you wish. --LadyGeek 21:22, 3 April 2018 (CDT)

Probability versus "safety-first"

The introduction was difficult to follow, as there was no explanation of "safety-first" and its relation to this page. I have attempted to clarify the intent to show "conventional" retirement is based on a probabilistic approach. --LadyGeek 19:17, 28 April 2018 (CDT)

This comparison between probabilistic and safety-first approaches, and calling the conventional approach 'probabilistic' (which is a label that it's opponents use) is important, but was, IMO, not ideally placed in the introduction. I've shifted this material towards the end of the article.--Quebec 18:12, 9 May 2018 (CDT)

Ready for main space?

Are this article, and the "Safety-first" article, ready for main space? I'm happy with them, and don't have much more time for finiki this year.--Quebec 18:14, 9 May 2018 (CDT)

Yes, the articles are ready for the main namespace. I have moved the articles and performed the administrative tasks (add categories, remove / add templates, edit templates). Enjoy your summer time. --LadyGeek 19:52, 9 May 2018 (CDT)
