Template talk:Becoming a contributor

From finiki, the Canadian financial wiki

When creating an email link, you can also pre-fill the subject line, which could help the receiver. An example is:

[mailto:someone@example.com?Subject=I'd%20like%20to%20edit%20finiki finiki editor]

which will appear as finiki editor

Thinking out loud, since the point of wiki's is they are a collaborative effort with no formal vetting of articles, does the name of the email account of managing_editor imply something inconsistent with that view? If so, should we consider changing the name? --Peculiar Investor 09:12, 4 February 2012 (MST)

I've only had one request from an outsider, somebody in California. Google showed he had made other similar requests to other boards. I decided he was basically trying to pad his resume and drum up business so I declined. I don't know how the linkage to the editor's email name forwarding is set up - that's a Sysop issue - but don't think the name matters much. Anyway, IMO a totally free from edit Wiki has been shown to be unworkable from Wikipedia's experience.--Shakespeare 09:31, 4 February 2012 (MST)
